Feeling accomplished

1 Sept 08

Spent a fruitful weekend. And was very glad with my purchases now.

Staring in front of me is my new Edifier (Cheap cheap) 2+1 speakers.

Inside my bag is my new Sony Cybershot W150. This is truly a tough decision after my long courtship of a digital camera.

And they won't be here with me, if not for Comex 08!! This is certainly a national event! From 60years old uncles to 30years old daddys to Ban-ka-la (which linger around your void decks) I went there on Thursday (First day), found there was not much crowds as compared to last IT Show. Wander around, trying to get as much Digital cams flyers. Spoken to S**y and Olymp** staffs, but found out that they really don't know much about the products they are selling!! Simply reading from the catalogue given!

Tried going into the Panasonic Lumix's crowds but failed. So was doing research online for reviews and feedbacks on those models which I've shortlisted.

Went back over on Saturday noon with 2 friends. This time managed to squeeze into Panasonic's crowds, after 20minutes of consideration, I decided to head back to Sony booth. Planned to get model A but last minute before I pay, change my mind to get W150 which cost $100 more due to the freebies given.

When heading home, I carried 2 big bags or rather I dragged them home..

Whatever... What matters most is that I'm feeling great! Time to head out to take my shots!!

Tomorrow gotta go over Comex for final round of research, and hopefully I can get the one I desire and turn out suits my usage.

Any one got nice recommendation or review of your current digi cam? Care to share with me at the eleventh-hour?

Dirtiest run I ever did..

24 Aug 08

Yesterday, while Jazs was taking her test in the afternoon. I was wandering around, window shopping around from Orchard to Suntec under the rain. Count myself lucky not to get myself sick today. After Dinner with Jazs & family, I gotta give the Korea's firework presentation a miss, I reached home around 10pm. And turn in after an hour.

Waking at 5.40am today was torturing. When I heard the alarm, I told myself, "If it is heavy rain, I shall get back to sleep." When I opened my eyes, it was a cool weather, not a bit of rain... I couldn't control myself as I lie down like a dead pig. Struggled as I warm-up and do some stretching, my eyes were closed as I brushed teeth.. I'm so freakly tired... *Arghz...

Breakfast was plain bread with banana. Board the cab and reached Esplanade at 6.25am. Join the crowds, and moments later, I heard the flag off. As usual I was down there 300m away from the Start line.

Well, I started off smoothly, trying to adopt the correct running method. Reaching the 14km mark without feeling the usual knee pain I had in the past. But what's lie in front of me is,

Mud..

Soil...

Soft terrain...

LL... I proceed forward. Within minutes, I found my favourite Adidas red shoes covered with mud. *Arhhh!!! From then onwards, I went as slow as I can. The change in gradient and terrain were really a bother for me. Poor adapting ability overwhelmed me. Finally reaching the Marina Barrage at 2hrs, strolling my way as I stepped on this newly erected bridge which overlook Sheares Bridge, CBD, Fullerton hotel and SG flyer. Amazing view indeed. Argh... Felt my first cramp on my calf.

From then on, I half jogged and limpped my way toward Fullerton Hotel. And I finally complete SG Bay Run within 2hrs30mins. Absolutely glad that I did better then during my army days. I think those video clips I've watched, really helps. What really matters to me most is I'm facing no extreme pain on my knees and legs.

Running Techinques

21st Aug 08

As 24th Aug 08 draw closer, I kinda worry about my physical ability to withstand 21km..

Feeling like a dog being cornered, I have yet to complete a 8km run for the past few months! Currently is like a Chinese saying : "Gan cheong dog jump over the wall" So i resulted in searching for correct running techinques. I thought this clip is useful.

I only come to know about the Nike Human race last week, just surf the webby, found the 'dri-fit' tee given look much more nicer than SG BayRun's tee. *Ha! Forget it... This weekend will try hunt for a jogging arm pouch, so as to carry my cellphone along to take a few pics from Sheares Bridge (that's is provided my knees dun give way...)

Olympics craze...

19th Aug 08

Currently the 'IN' thing. Olympics Beijing 2008.

An event which even Mr. Lee postponed his 'talkshow'. You can imagine how much attention was drawn towards it.

From passing of torch, which started out quite terrifying for the runners. Suspected b*mb found around Beijing. Till now, we all witnessed how Singapore finally break medal drought for 40+years. Got astonished how my swimming idol, Michael Phelps rise up to the occasion to grab all 8 Gold medals.

For me, I deliberately miss 'Old man running on wall' event on the Opening day. I really get started off watching the Olympics, starting from Swimming events. From Men's 400m Individual Medley Final to the last event Men's 4 x 100m Medley Relay Final. He is surely a prodigy of Swimming.

In the last Olympics, I watched (i rank) All-time greatest event,

2004 Athens Olympics Men's 200m Freestyle Final.

Flying Dutch dolphin, Pieter van den Hoogenband

Aussie Torpedo, Ian Thorpe

Upcoming American star, Michael Phelps

I was actually craving for a second helping for this event. Unfortunately, Ian Thorpe retired. Pieter van den Hoogenband isn't any younger for these events. Phelps domination, swept almost every events. Truly a great all-round swimmer we have ever come across. When the papers reported, The only one who can beat Phelps is he himself. I wonder, what if Thorpe hasn't retired? The world ever cast a line like this on Swiss Tennis King, Roger Federer. But now? Presently, we can only hope for a Nadal or Djkovic to appear in the pool, challenging this 'God of Swimming'.

The next event I follow, (isn't table tennis). Basketball!! Although this US Dream 8 Team form by NBA All-stars, seem invincible (close your eyes also know they will win Gold), I still happily watch the matches of them versus China and Spain.

Third sport, I TRIED to follow is Women Volleyball (Tv seldom show lehz). But today result, shows that I need not have to follow anymore. Coz Russia which is the team I supported for years have been beaten by China... *Sighz.. Starting from 2002, when there is a sport channel set up by Mediacorp, they showed some Women Volleyball World Championship. I was attracted to the Russian team formed by a few pretty and tall ladies!! (But not as pretty as Sharapova!!) I simply love the way how they attack by using their biggest advantage, Height. It was always an exciting match to watch them facing Brazil, Cuba and USA.

I especially like this player, Lioubov Chachkova. She is regards as one of the Greatest All-round player in the World of Volleyball. Thinking that this could be her last chance for an Olympics medal, I was hoping they are able to create another history of getting into the Finals like 2004 Athens Olympics. But today results send all hopes crushed.. What is left is past memories..

Ya!! Another one! Diving!! But I only watch events that feature the beautiful China's diving queen, Guo Jing Jing!! *LoL!!!

Lastly, I just wanna say this: They won it, Yes, they did. BUT!! I will be

supporting SG Olympics winner provided they are born at K.K Hospital. Call me a stubborn, old fella. I will only say it's good buy, but I'm not buying it. Apologies..

Ramen @ Gallery Hotel

15 Aug 08

Last thursday went for Ramen session with Adam. Alight at Clarke Quay MRT station, walked a long long way, passing Jumbo Seafood, Robertson Quay and reached Gallery Hotel at around 1915hrs.

At the lobby of Gallery Hotel, started staring the shops' direction signs. 5 Jap resturants. Go -->
So we walked -->. Well, it not there. We wandered around the perimeter of the hotel, so when I spotted a red lantern hidden at 1 corner of the building. Went pass a bushy, unkempt planter box and saw a Jap restaurant. At this moment, we are still wondering if this is the right place.

Looking the menu pasted on the glass panel, Adam confirmed WE ARE THERE!!

Ran towards the front seats (in front of the Jap Chef). But the front seats are blocked by a partition...* Errr..

Let's take a look at the menu....

I ordered for this!

Do you know : Everytime I ordered a ramen with corns and seaweeds, I simply can't resist the temptation of adding butter if it wasn't included. But this day, I decided not to do that, Let me try the original taste first.

First look... Like Lor Mee...

First taste... Nice! Super strong taste of the soup.

First bite... Normal ramen... *Heard the ramen are imported from Japan! But I found 1 lump of un-cooked ones stick together... Turn off... Points deducted

Second taste... The soup is getting unbearable salty-ness... But I kept drinking, still craving for it, I dunno why...

As I eat and look at the menu, I saw this line of words:"You may request for a bowl of plain soup, if your throat feels dry after consuming the ramens."

Now I know why! Do I care about the salty soup??

End result :

Overall, it is a good to try, PROVIDED you want to grab a bite before you heads into Dbl O, or you just happen to be there.

How he did that?

14th Aug 08

I simply cannot figure out where he got that last burst of energy that push the US team towards Gold position?

Jason Lezak was really the man! Phelps certainly have to thanks this man for STILL being on track for his Gold aim...

8 is the year I ever make her so happy

11 Aug 08

I can't believe that how time flies... Jazs & Antz have been together for 8 wonderful years. But this year, we have a something really special!

Something we look forward to....

Something that make us purchasing stuffs like running tap...

Something we know, after the hard work, product we'll get is 'Happiness'....

I never knew I was the first among all my best buddies to reach this stage!

But I'm glad that some of my best buddies weren't too far behind me! = )
In fact one of them is preparing something even grand then mine!

Well, I now have to focus on my Year end event. Last week, managed to complete some tasks:

  • View a restaurant by Clarke Quay - But not to our liking. Photos from the website seems kinda grand, with nice atmosphere. On site was a different thing! OUT!

  • Got my suit, shirt and pants at relatively cheap price! Less than $150.

  • Collected our rings... I finally got my first diamond ring - I'm not gay, ask yourself!! When have you ever have a chance to find an excuse to wear a diamond ring? *Candice was the first who saw them... Sorry Mum...

  • Spent a simple yet surprise lunch with Jazs where I presented to her .... Br..... Rose...

Accomplished like 60% of the stuffs, still have to work on the venue thingy now. But we are happily working, calculating out stuffs together. Looking at Jazs sunshine smile, certainly push aside all my tiredness.

I just wanna say thanks, Jazs, May we continue a few more cycles of 8 good years.

Snapping away while I strolled

3rd Aug 08

Finally got my pics taken last weekend, which I went with Jazs & Family on a outing.

We walked through almost the whole stretch of 'The Southern Ridges'. Starting from Henderson Waves (Curvy wood structure) towards Forest Walk (elevated metal structure - full of I-beams) and Alexandra Arch. The journey through the artificial greens, ended at Hort Park (New NParks - Gardening Hub) Entrance.

Look at this webby if you wanna know more about 'The Southern Ridge'

Lunch was brought at Seah Im Hawker, and I nearly quarrel with that gan-cheong spider Char Kway Tiao auntie. Fortunately it didnt spoil my mood of enjoying my fav Lor Mee!

Back to the photos..

After looking through all those shots, and compare with Jazs' cousin's dig cam... I really have strong urge to buy a better cam!

By the way, those pics are taken with a 3.2 mega pixels camera. They are all uploaded at my Flickr web : http://flickr.com/photos/20939735@N04/

Enjoy!

Treasure those ard U

3rd Aug 08

Due to change of working shift, I wasn't needed for work tis Sat.

Working environment change...

People around you change....

Your approach towards work certainly got to change too...

New experience for me...

Trying to adapt to it right now...

Keep on wondering how I should plan my future footsteps. As I've always say. Life still goes on... Friends in your workplace??? Pretty hard for one. Just follow your heart and Walk on...

Ok... Enough of that.. So this is how I spent my Sat :

1. Wash my piggies, giving them a nice shower... Looking at how comfortable they are after that brighten up my day!

2. Surf FaceBook.. Wondering why is my new Ambulance keep kana summon for no reason... (Parking War)

3. Went over Katong brought the "Glory Catering" $2.20 popiah. I feel it is worthwhile! Rate based on the taste of the chilli, big prawn. $3.20 for the Mee Siam, which is simply great! The more chilli the beta!

4. Watch 3 hours of "Animals Planet", while Jazs does her assignment.

5. Dinner was at the famous "Fly Fly Wa-ton Mee", ordered with very high expectation, but ended up. whining about the lack of taste in the mee... Till now, my rating of Best Wa-ton mee is still the "Jia Xiang Kolo Mee"!!

Sunday, what will I be doing? See how it goes when I wake up tomorrow..
